SB 112 Hearing

The Senate Judiciary Committee will have a hearing on SB 112 Wednesday, February 4, 2009 at 9:30 a.m. in room 545-N.

The Big Tent Coalition has agreed to endorse this Bill, which has been introduced by the Kansas Commission on Disability Concerns. SB 112 would bring the language in Kansas' state anti-discrimination statutes in line with changes to the federal Americans with Disabilities Act from late last year.

We would encourage BTC members to contact Senate Judiciary Committee members to express support for the changes proposed in SB 112.

Please contact me with any questions.

Re: SB 112 Hearing

We are asking BTC members to contact Senate leadership and Sen. Tim Owens and ask for SB 112 to be "blessed" so Senate Judiciary will be able to work the bill and move it forward for a full vote.

This bill will bring the Kansas anti-discrimination law for people with disabilities into line with changes to federal law.

Please let us know of any conversations members have with Senators and Senate leadership on this very important issue of civil rights for people with disabilities.

Thank you. Ami
